What do you expect from a students’ union?

What is the first thing comes into your mind when you hear the word “students’ unions”? Protests, strikes, conflicts…? Have you ever heard of something other than that?

Actually students’ unions do lot more work but the media reports only the protests, strikes etc. So, I thought of writing some work done by our union. “Arunella” is one such annual program which consists of scholarship program, O/L seminar program and social projects. You can read about this on http://yasaruwan.gunathilake.com/arunella/.

Please don’t forget to say what you think because that’s very important for all the students of our faculty. Also I’d like to know what you do you expect and what you don’t expect from a students’ union?

Blogging, Vacation and the University

At last my seven months vacation is going to be end. I wrote about my vacation in one of my previous posts but I didn’t think this is going to be this much of long. The reason for the extension is another long story, may be I’ll about it later. Anyway my third year in the university is to begin from next Monday.

Probably the best thing I used to do in this vacation was blogging. My blogging history is only about three months which started on early May. In this three months I’ve posted only 15 posts but I am really satisfied with the work I did. A big thanks goes to all the readers and specially those who commented here.

So after the academic work begins surely I won’t have much time to spend with my blog. But I’ll try to write as much as I can. I’m sure in the future I’ll write more about things going on with my university life. So keep in touch.

Another milestone…

We have done so many challenging and competitive teamwork as university students and has earned reputation all over the university as a batch. But this time it’s different than the other achievements we gained.

Today, we launched our batch web site to the internet on www.e04pera.com. As the current students this is not a much necessity, but after graduation we’ll all go here and there may be outside the country so online is the only way to keep connections with each other. This is for that.

The web site was developed and currently maintained by one of our batch mates, Dhanushka and my brother helped us by hosting it. Every other batch mates helped us in different ways and a big thanks goes to all of them.
