Monawada Muththe

About 15 years back when I was a kid this was a very popular song among us. I’m sure you have also watched this nice song at least once. When I watched it on YouTube today it bought my sweet past memories back.

Enjoy it once again! Thanks MyLanka for adding this song on YouTube.

Another milestone…

We have done so many challenging and competitive teamwork as university students and has earned reputation all over the university as a batch. But this time it’s different than the other achievements we gained.

Today, we launched our batch web site to the internet on www.e04pera.com. As the current students this is not a much necessity, but after graduation we’ll all go here and there may be outside the country so online is the only way to keep connections with each other. This is for that.

The web site was developed and currently maintained by one of our batch mates, Dhanushka and my brother helped us by hosting it. Every other batch mates helped us in different ways and a big thanks goes to all of them.

Did you recognize the language I used to write my title? It’s English but upside-down. Look at it again. Isn’t it cool? If you want to try it just visit http://www.revfad.com/flip.html and type what you want and click the flip button. I found this on Digg.

Google says “tamil tigers are terrorists”

I got a comment from a guy called Greg for one of my previous posts, “Sir Arthur C. Clarke’s predictions - did they come true?” stating that Google is working to achieve artificial intelligence(AI) and they will successful within few years. Today I got a proof that Google search engine is more intelligence than we thought.

I searched for “tamil tigers arent terrorists” and Google asked me “Did you mean: tamil tigers are terrorists”. Here’s the screen shot. Click the photo to enlarge.

So, Google is intelligence than some of the people living in this country, isn’t it?

Can you hide information?

In last few days some blog posts emerged in Kottu claiming that TamilNet can’t be accessed from Sri Lanka and there were some solutions too. I haven’t visited TamilNet for a very long time perhaps for about 2-3 years because its unbalanced nature of providing news. But at the same time people can’t access TamilNet, there seems to be a problem of accessing www.lankanewspapers.com too. It brings news about Sri Lanka from various sources specially from the Sri Lankan English news papers, international news agencies and some other news providers including TamilNet.

So I used one of the proxy service, www.proxyindex.com to enter lankanewspapers.com and surprisingly the top news item was “Sri Lanka blocks TamilNet” and the source is TamilNet. I also visited TamilNet and their top news item was also the same. So probably the government has decided to ban TamilNet and other news sources which brings news from them. Even though TamilNet is linked to LTTE and providing false information this is a shameless and blind step taken by the government to stop them because anyone can easily access the site with the help of a proxy service.

It’s a tragedy for all of us that our leaders haven’t yet understood the fact that they can’t hide information forever from the public. This is the information age and it’s flowing freely. None can stop that. So Mr. President let them say what they want and let us decide what is true and what is not.
