I got a comment from a guy called Greg for one of my previous posts, “Sir Arthur C. Clarke’s predictions - did they come true?” stating that Google is working to achieve artificial intelligence(AI) and they will successful within few years. Today I got a proof that Google search engine is more intelligence than we thought.
I searched for “tamil tigers arent terrorists” and Google asked me “Did you mean: tamil tigers are terrorists”. Here’s the screen shot. Click the photo to enlarge.
So, Google is intelligence than some of the people living in this country, isn’t it?

You can also search for ‘french military victories’ and hit ‘Im feeling lucky’
Try Miserable failure you’ll get lots of George bush stuff, try this in yahoo for best results
lol! that french military one and george bush one is funny as the LTTE one! good stuff!
ya man ur correct google and we all know they are terrorist but some of the srilankan politicizations cant see from their blind eyes.
….So, Google is intelligence than some of the people living in this country, isnt it?….
Has google reached AI yet? Probably not. Is google more intelligent than you, certainly.
Actually, reaching AI is supposed to be a really bad thing, a lot of writers call it a singularity event. They believe that dire things will happen to mankind.
Reaching AI may be bad thing if they use it against the people or if those intelligence machines rise up against us. But it can also be used for good purposes. Considering what Google has done so far I don’t think they will use it for bad things if they would achieve it one day.
Maybe if you punctuated aren’t correctly, you’d get better results.
Is that a correct result from google AI systems.I don’t think it!

Try “Paris Hilton isnt a whore”.
You won’t be surprised though….. LOL
This got nothing to do with AI, they are just suggestions by Google, which are generated using earlier search queries
Well, when I write this article I didn’t expect a discussion on AI. If you see the categories I put this article you can see it’s under humor, politics and internet not under science or something like that. Anyway, if somebody want to share your thoughts on AI you’re also welcome.
So shanX you say this is suggestions by Google, which are generated using earlier search queries.
OK. When I search for “tamil tigers arent terrorists” the apostrophe on “arent” is missing. However Google can correct this in two ways. Most easy way is to put an apostrophe and suggest “tamil tigers aren’t terrorists” but Google chooses the other way and suggest “tamil tigers are terrorists”. But how and why? Google search is learning from previous search queries(you can use another word for learning if you like).
I don’t say Google knows all the terror activities of tamil tigers or it has any senses but the reason it chooses the second way is it knows what the majority of people are asking. May be you can call this is a early step on AI. Isn’t it?
The suggestions Google offers in terms of correct spelling/grammar is based on the results stored in its index. It is not an AI that corrects or contradicts political positions as you seem to imply. That is a some way in the future before it can happen.
The screenshot that you’ve taken is a result of Google not having the content to match your search criteria. In such cases, it will assume you’ve made a mistake typing your query and offer a suggestion to what is closest to your search query.
Hah hah, its might be sometimes, what majority people might be asking…
I guess, definitely it might be a spelling correction, as Theena says
definityl tiger tamils are terrorists.
Hello there,
I can not believe this posting. On Google, when you research, spelling matters. There is no word as arent that I know. If you want to do some researches write properly what you want to know. Here are some phrases for you to research with spelling mistakes. LOL, have fun.
Tamil tige are not terrorist
Sri lankans Goverment are terrorists
it’s because you spelled ‘aren’t’ incorrectly.
its just commen sense to put the right spelling on……..all this views on what google says.
next time CHECK ur spelling.
